Going Home Lost In a Fog

If the news in America is correct, and from every report it is, the majority of churches are in as much trouble as the educational system. As a nation we have lost true north. Feelings have replaced truth and the vast majority do not even know it. They are looking at their compass, and each day it is pointing to a new direction. The problem of being lost in a fog with a defective compass, you just get “loster.”

With any hope of finding the way home, we must get a stable compass. The reason my Boy Scout compass was dependable, it always pointed north. Today the educational system, the American church system has replaced truth north; that is, our God, with hundreds of human pretenders, each one claiming they know the direction home. Since their directions are based on feelings and not absolute truth, each claim to be correct; thus, the Methodist church leader seeking direction on the correctness of homosexuality has a dozen experts giving him different directions. Each morning he gets more lost in the fog. The Anglican Church man seeking God lays his compass on the stump in the fog and finds dozens of experts denying God’s word and seeking to replace history and theology with feelings. To a greater or lesser degree this is happening to churches across America. Friday morning’s e-mail brought me sad news from an old church brother my age, and a church where he’s an Elder that supports NIMA has just split in two. One group met on Sunday morning, seeking the true compass of the Word of God with their minister; the same minister met in the evening with another group that based their direction on feelings. It is obvious the church was pulling a part. It happened this week. Truth and feelings split directions; their compasses were not the same. One based on truth, one based on feelings. This problem is nationwide.

Our only hope for America is to reestablish a unified compass based on truth. This is our only hope to find our way out of the fog.  We must find true north. For millennia, Jehovah God has been true north for the Western world. He has leaded us into great success; but now, we are lost in a fog because so many have replaced Jehovah God with their feelings being true north. Jehovah God is “the same yesterday, today, and forever.” He does not change; thus, when we base our direction on God he will direct us home through the fog. When we base our direction on feelings of even brilliant men in the educational system and the church world, we are bound to be misdirected

Psalm 19: Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
